Get the Best Turkey with Turkey Fryers

Thanksgiving Day is never complete without the turkey. Traditionally, it has been served as the main course during this holiday in the United States and Canada. However, because of its abundance throughout the year, turkey is now eaten year-round with or without special occasions and can be bought sliced, ground, or whole in most supermarkets.

Turkeys are usually baked or roasted in an oven. In the passage of time and with the introduction of new technologies, people have thought of other ways on how to cook a turkey. Inspired by the staple in most fast food restaurants — the fried chicken, deep fried turkeys came about.

Turkey fryers use a propane burner, stock pot with lid, a basket and/or poultry holder, a lifter, and a thermometer. Compared to other conventional methods, cooking in a fryer takes less time. Also, turkey fryers can be used not just for frying, but for boiling as well.

Despite the fact that fryers can make incredible deep fried yet juicy turkeys, the entire process of deep frying turkeys needs utmost attention and caution. Fryers require gallons of oil. This amount of oil can be as flammable as gasoline and may cause fire, if it goes over 300 degrees Fahrenheit. It would be then very important to monitor the temperature of the oil. Reduce the heat if necessary. It might help to keep a fire
extinguisher within reach when cooking. In addition, never leave the fryer unattended. Kids and pets should also be kept away.

While the early fryers are only used outdoors, there are now turkey fryers available in the market, which are safe for indoor use. These fryers can cook turkeys even faster, and has thermostat temperature control, built-in timer and valve to drain the oil. Moreover, with its stainless steel construction, cleaning up becomes easier, too.

Safety is a precursor of pleasure. Sometimes, the only fault why accidents happen is not following safety measures. Take time to read your turkey fryer’s cooking instructions the next time you use it. After all, enjoying the turkey may not depend on how it was cooked; the meat is healthy and appetizing in anyway it was prepared. The best way to enjoy the turkey maybe is having nothing to worry about but just eating the
turkey.
